Resetting water filter indicator light on refrigerator
Reseting water filter indicator light on refrigerator

To notify consumers when it’s time to change the water filter, most new refrigerators now come equipped with an indicator light. This light doesnt automatically reset after you replace the used filter with a new one, but must be manually reset. To help you guys master the skills of resetting the indicator light, I would like to spare some time to edit this post.

Usually, the indicator light is blue, yellow or green, depending on the filters service time or filtration volume.

After you use about five months or 270 gallons of water, the indicator light turns pink.

After you use about six months or 300 gallons of water, the indicator light turns red.

Each manufacturer has its own version of instructions for resetting the indicator light. Below is the most common practice:

1. After changing the filter, locate the Filter Reset” button near the filter on the refrigerator.

2. Press and hold the “Filter Reset” button for 3-5 seconds to reset the indicator light.

3. When the system is reset, the indicator light will return to its blue color.

These instructions are applicable for all refrigerator models, such as Whirlpool fridge, Kenmore fridge, Sears fridge, Frigidaire fridge and Maytag fridge.

Thats all I can give to you in terms of resetting the indicator light. Hope they are useful for you.
